A chronic sinner.

Often, during this time of year, we see the autumn leaves taking residence on every square inch of great american ground.  You see the vast amounts of coffee cups and a cornucopia of warmth in the smiles around you.

As much as I could write about the joys of fall, I am going to talk about some harsh, dirty and stark realities of this life.  But somehow, even the ugliest aspects of this life can point to the same God who causes the earth to rotate around the sun and orchestrates the changing of the leaves to the most vibrant of colors.

I have been spending my weeks learning how to be a nurse in the classroom, but also in the hospital.  This semester, I have found myself neck-deep in my pediatric clinical rotations.  Man, I love children, and I love helping the sweet sick babies get better!

But man, I never knew my heart would break so much. This world is a dark dark place.  Sometimes, I feel like I'm too inadequate to be encountering these life or death situations.  I have spent time crying over things from spilling coffee all over my scrubs, to a sweet, 4-month old patient who is holding onto life from Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The reality is that I have found my life to be an utter mess.  I have found the world in which I live in to be the complete opposite of the beautiful autumn sights and smells.

I have found myself to be falling apart and ripping at the seams.  I have found my attitude toward others to be bitter, I have found myself to be entirely characterized by sarcasm and emotional breakdowns in the middle of parking lots and coffee shops.

One of the most prominent things I have learned about myself is that I am a completely dirty human.  I fall short every day.  I mean, I am a chronic liar; I lie to people to get out of things.  I judge the actions of my peers,  I disrespect myself with my time and fail to be intentional with my friends and relationships because I close people off.

This world is so broken, and I am a huge contributor to its brokenness, but it doesn't stop at this.  In the midst of this public confession as well as my confession to Christ about my deceitfulness and dirtiness,

HE STILL LOVES ME.

The God who redeemed my life is still redeeming me today.  I will never be perfect, I will never be adequate, but my gosh, God loves me even when I am as dirty as I have ever been.

The God who parted the red sea, can take my broken self and bring beauty.  Its because of His grace that I can look outside my apartment window and feel His presence in the changing leaves and beauty of fall. Its because of HIS grace, that I have the chance to pray over a baby who is clinging to life with each breath.

Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

God sees beyond what we see.

What a beautiful thing that our Creator can see things in us that other people are blind to. Sometimes people will try to push you down, making you feel insignificant, inferior and unworthy. At times, it seems as though our own thoughts will try to convince and coerce us into thinking that we don’t measure up. But God looks beyond the surface, beyond the mistakes you’ve made, beyond what somebody said about you and sees your incredible divine and beloved worth and value. You may think, “I’ve messed up. I have blown it. I have failed. I’m entirely too washed up.” No, God still sees more in you. God doesn’t just see what you are; He sees what you can become. You may have made some mistakes, but God still sees victory and triumph on the inside of you. People may have tried to shove you down, but God sees you rising higher.

BEHOLD, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

For the One True God

To my dear Prayer Warriors,
Wow, what a blessing to be writing this letter to thank you for your prayer and support over the last number of months as I prepared my heart for my time in India.  I am thankful beyond words to have had the opportunity to serve a people group that I have grown to love and develop a huge passion for.  God did tremendous things during my month in India and I am so excited to share it with you.  First of all, India is a very dark and spiritual place. There is much worship of false gods and idols.  It is very dirty, yet there are elaborate idols and gods everywhere among the streets of India.  The people of India are consumed by poverty; yet invest all that they have into their gods.

It was incredible to share the Gospel with people who had NEVER ONCE heard the powerful name of Jesus.  I am particularly thankful for an opportunity on May 29th to share the Gospel with a Hindu priest and his family of 8 inside of a Hindu temple in front of many false gods. Members of His family came to a lifelong relationship with Christ on that day, in the middle of a Hindu temple. God is so great!

God is at work in India, but my greatest request is continued prayer for the people.  After working with some victims of human trafficking, my heart is oh so heavy for the darkness that I saw in this country. Although I had the blessing of being able to usher some of these victims into a lifelong relationship with Christ, I am heartbroken by the grip that the enemy has on the country of India. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would manifest in the lives of those that we came into contact with and that they would have the boldness, and be unashamed of the Gospel so that the word may be spread to more unreached people.

Thank you again for your support, I am so full of gratitude and thank God daily for the work that I got to be a part of while in India.
Blessings,
Kaelie

ONE.WEEK.OUT!!!

We are one week away from boarding the plane!
We are so excited to be serving for the next month in South Asia
Here are some specific prayer requests:
  •  physical health of the team, the country we are headed to leads in acquired infection and disease

  • spiritual preparation - we need to be ready to witness and evangelize to the unreached, unengaged people groups that we will be working with.

  • logistics of the trip - that travel to the country and within the country will go smoothly

  • openness of the hearts of the natives - that their hearts would be prepared to hear what we have to share

We are so excited to GO.  We will not be silent, and will do our part to share the love of Christ to the nations.
Thank you all for your support and prayers!
I am speaking on behalf of my team when I say that we are thankful beyond words!
What better way to begin our summer?
Be blessed!

A month from today!!

I will be on a plane with my team to South Asia!
So hard to believe its coming up so soon.
Its been incredible to see God provide for this trip, as things are coming together, plans are being made - it's getting real!

Prayer for my team would be great as where we are headed is a place with much darkness.
Here are some specifics!
- prayer for spiritual prep for my team, that we will be prepared for the things we will encounter and see
- prayer for continued fundraising for members of my team struggling to make deadlines
- prayer for physical health while we travel and while we are there
- prayer for discernment for my fellow team leader Hayden and I as we seek to lead the team to the best of our ability

Thank you so much for your outpouring of support and prayer!
I am so blessed.

For His glory,
Kaelie

Support list - humbling

Sorry I haven't given a trip update lately, I've been crazy busy with nursing practices and tests and labs and clinicals and things of that nature!

The other day, I stopped by the Global Outreach Office and received my list of supporters for my trip and was brought to tears over how many people have contributed to this trip.

Words can't even express my gratitude and I am so thankful that each of you have chosen to be a part of this ministry!

Expect a thank you card in the mail soon with my sloppy tears all over it. Seriously so thankful, you guys are wonderful!

Also, if you want to receive emails while i am in south asia to get updates, please email me at
kaelie.fredrick@okbu.edu
They will probably be vague updates maybe with some pictures just to keep things confidentially secure in my location.
But I would LOVE to update you about cool things happening during the 5 weeks that I will be gone!

Again, thank you for all of the love and support, things are coming together with the trip.
The plane tickets are bought, and my visa is processing!
EXCITING STUFF!

Please continue to pray for the financial support of my team members as we're all trying to raise prayer and financial support together!

Love and blessings,
Kaelie
