A chronic sinner.

Often, during this time of year, we see the autumn leaves taking residence on every square inch of great american ground.  You see the vast amounts of coffee cups and a cornucopia of warmth in the smiles around you.

As much as I could write about the joys of fall, I am going to talk about some harsh, dirty and stark realities of this life.  But somehow, even the ugliest aspects of this life can point to the same God who causes the earth to rotate around the sun and orchestrates the changing of the leaves to the most vibrant of colors.

I have been spending my weeks learning how to be a nurse in the classroom, but also in the hospital.  This semester, I have found myself neck-deep in my pediatric clinical rotations.  Man, I love children, and I love helping the sweet sick babies get better!

But man, I never knew my heart would break so much. This world is a dark dark place.  Sometimes, I feel like I'm too inadequate to be encountering these life or death situations.  I have spent time crying over things from spilling coffee all over my scrubs, to a sweet, 4-month old patient who is holding onto life from Shaken Baby Syndrome.

The reality is that I have found my life to be an utter mess.  I have found the world in which I live in to be the complete opposite of the beautiful autumn sights and smells.

I have found myself to be falling apart and ripping at the seams.  I have found my attitude toward others to be bitter, I have found myself to be entirely characterized by sarcasm and emotional breakdowns in the middle of parking lots and coffee shops.

One of the most prominent things I have learned about myself is that I am a completely dirty human.  I fall short every day.  I mean, I am a chronic liar; I lie to people to get out of things.  I judge the actions of my peers,  I disrespect myself with my time and fail to be intentional with my friends and relationships because I close people off.

This world is so broken, and I am a huge contributor to its brokenness, but it doesn't stop at this.  In the midst of this public confession as well as my confession to Christ about my deceitfulness and dirtiness,

HE STILL LOVES ME.

The God who redeemed my life is still redeeming me today.  I will never be perfect, I will never be adequate, but my gosh, God loves me even when I am as dirty as I have ever been.

The God who parted the red sea, can take my broken self and bring beauty.  Its because of His grace that I can look outside my apartment window and feel His presence in the changing leaves and beauty of fall. Its because of HIS grace, that I have the chance to pray over a baby who is clinging to life with each breath.

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

God sees beyond what we see.

What a beautiful thing that our Creator can see things in us that other people are blind to. Sometimes people will try to push you down, making you feel insignificant, inferior and unworthy. At times, it seems as though our own thoughts will try to convince and coerce us into thinking that we don’t measure up. But God looks beyond the surface, beyond the mistakes you’ve made, beyond what somebody said about you and sees your incredible divine and beloved worth and value. You may think, “I’ve messed up. I have blown it. I have failed. I’m entirely too washed up.” No, God still sees more in you. God doesn’t just see what you are; He sees what you can become. You may have made some mistakes, but God still sees victory and triumph on the inside of you. People may have tried to shove you down, but God sees you rising higher.

BEHOLD, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

For the One True God

To my dear Prayer Warriors,
Wow, what a blessing to be writing this letter to thank you for your prayer and support over the last number of months as I prepared my heart for my time in India.  I am thankful beyond words to have had the opportunity to serve a people group that I have grown to love and develop a huge passion for.  God did tremendous things during my month in India and I am so excited to share it with you.  First of all, India is a very dark and spiritual place. There is much worship of false gods and idols.  It is very dirty, yet there are elaborate idols and gods everywhere among the streets of India.  The people of India are consumed by poverty; yet invest all that they have into their gods.

It was incredible to share the Gospel with people who had NEVER ONCE heard the powerful name of Jesus.  I am particularly thankful for an opportunity on May 29th to share the Gospel with a Hindu priest and his family of 8 inside of a Hindu temple in front of many false gods. Members of His family came to a lifelong relationship with Christ on that day, in the middle of a Hindu temple. God is so great!

God is at work in India, but my greatest request is continued prayer for the people.  After working with some victims of human trafficking, my heart is oh so heavy for the darkness that I saw in this country. Although I had the blessing of being able to usher some of these victims into a lifelong relationship with Christ, I am heartbroken by the grip that the enemy has on the country of India. Please pray that the Holy Spirit would manifest in the lives of those that we came into contact with and that they would have the boldness, and be unashamed of the Gospel so that the word may be spread to more unreached people.

Thank you again for your support, I am so full of gratitude and thank God daily for the work that I got to be a part of while in India.
Blessings,
Kaelie

ONE.WEEK.OUT!!!

We are one week away from boarding the plane!
We are so excited to be serving for the next month in South Asia
Here are some specific prayer requests:
  •  physical health of the team, the country we are headed to leads in acquired infection and disease

  • spiritual preparation - we need to be ready to witness and evangelize to the unreached, unengaged people groups that we will be working with.

  • logistics of the trip - that travel to the country and within the country will go smoothly

  • openness of the hearts of the natives - that their hearts would be prepared to hear what we have to share

We are so excited to GO.  We will not be silent, and will do our part to share the love of Christ to the nations.
Thank you all for your support and prayers!
I am speaking on behalf of my team when I say that we are thankful beyond words!
What better way to begin our summer?
Be blessed!

A month from today!!

I will be on a plane with my team to South Asia!
So hard to believe its coming up so soon.
Its been incredible to see God provide for this trip, as things are coming together, plans are being made - it's getting real!

Prayer for my team would be great as where we are headed is a place with much darkness.
Here are some specifics!
- prayer for spiritual prep for my team, that we will be prepared for the things we will encounter and see
- prayer for continued fundraising for members of my team struggling to make deadlines
- prayer for physical health while we travel and while we are there
- prayer for discernment for my fellow team leader Hayden and I as we seek to lead the team to the best of our ability

Thank you so much for your outpouring of support and prayer!
I am so blessed.

For His glory,
Kaelie

Support list - humbling

Sorry I haven't given a trip update lately, I've been crazy busy with nursing practices and tests and labs and clinicals and things of that nature!

The other day, I stopped by the Global Outreach Office and received my list of supporters for my trip and was brought to tears over how many people have contributed to this trip.

Words can't even express my gratitude and I am so thankful that each of you have chosen to be a part of this ministry!

Expect a thank you card in the mail soon with my sloppy tears all over it. Seriously so thankful, you guys are wonderful!

Also, if you want to receive emails while i am in south asia to get updates, please email me at
kaelie.fredrick@okbu.edu
They will probably be vague updates maybe with some pictures just to keep things confidentially secure in my location.
But I would LOVE to update you about cool things happening during the 5 weeks that I will be gone!

Again, thank you for all of the love and support, things are coming together with the trip.
The plane tickets are bought, and my visa is processing!
EXCITING STUFF!

Please continue to pray for the financial support of my team members as we're all trying to raise prayer and financial support together!

Love and blessings,
Kaelie

Team Bonding!

Tonight, we had a team dinner and meeting at Dr. Mudliar's home.  His wife, Hannah prepared us a wonderful South Asian meal! She taught us that we eat with our hands - so we sat around a nice table and ate the messiest meal all with our hands but it was so fun!

One of the greatest things about tonight was that we got to meet our hosts! The people we will be living with and working alongside. We are fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to meet them in the US because they are in Oklahoma City for a short while.

I also learned a lot about specific things that we will be doing in South Asia, and let me tell you, I have never ever been more eager to go! I can't even focus on homework tonight because I am so excited!

3 MONTHS!!!

Hello friends!
3 months from today, I will be on a plane headed to South Asia!
I am so very excited that the day is approaching!
I have been heavy in prayer for the people that we will be ministering to, and I ask that you would join me in that prayer.

To all of you who have supported me financially, I don't have your names yet, but I can't begin to express how grateful I am.  I am excited to pick up the list of names of my supporters so I can thank each one of you individually.  Your support is furthering the Kingdom - how wonderful is that?

Update on my team!
My team has a big meeting coming up tomorrow.
We will be going to our faculty sponsor's home to deal with some country-specific logistics.
I would like to ask for your prayer as we meet and continue to plan out our time in South Asia.

Again, thank you all for the showering of support over the last couple months.  I wish i could express my gratitude enough.

Love you all.
Blessings,
Kaelie

Urgent Prayer.

Hello friends!
I have a couple friends who live in India and have served in a specific slum for quite some time now.

A couple days ago, my friend Julie posted that  3 children were abducted from her slum.  These children are between the ages of 3 and 6.

Human trafficking is real and needs to be stopped.

Please please join me in lifting these children and their families up in prayer.  Prayer for protection and rescue specifically.

God is able.

If you would like to see Julie's blog post so that you can read more specifically, here is the link to her post.

Trip Shortened

Just received word that the trip will be decreased to 4 weeks due to monsoon season.

We don't want to run the risk of being trapped in South Asia for an extra 3 weeks because of monsoons.

The trip will now be shorter, but that doesn't mean that the ministry can be lessened! Please keep praying!

Blessings,
Kaelie

new security stuff.

Today, we began orientation for our trip!
We learned about some new security policies so some things on my blog may be vague for the time being due to protecting the people in the country that we are headed to!

I am excited to tell you that we began talking about various ways we can get through to our specific people groups when we get to South Asia.

Please please please be lifting these people up, that God can prepare their hearts for what He will do this summer.

Also, continued prayer would be great for my team! We are excited to get this ball rolling.

Blessings, I love you all and hope you have had a wonderful Monday!

First Meeting!

Today I ventured back to Oklahoma for our GO weekend retreat.

I got to meet some more members on my team of 6 who will be boarding a plane on May 20th to South Asia

Two exciting things happened.

1. I found out the name of the city where we will be doing our ministry with sex trafficking victims.

2. I met our OBU faculty chaperone, and GUESS WHAT? HE'S FROM INDIA! Dr. Ishwaran Mudliar is a professor of Biblical and Theological studies and he will be with us during our time of ministry in South Asia!

These two things are HUGE for the team and bring us a place and people group to be praying for specifically.

Also, as a team, we took some personality and spiritual gift tests and it looks like we all compliment each other perfectly!

I am so excited about the team that God has so perfectly put together.
We all barely know each other but Im pretty sure we will get along just fine being together for 5 weeks this summer.

please keep praying for our team as we have another day of orientation tomorrow, and then starting this monday, weekly training until GO time!

I love you guys and thank you for all of your prayers!

Please pray!!

I received an email this morning that my funds are not coming in according to my deadlines.

Please please pray that God will provide the funds for my trip in time for the approaching deadlines.

I have to raise $3,000 by April.  Its a lot of pressure, but I'm trusting God for His provision.

Thank you so very much for praying!

Blessings,

Kaelie

Slavery Map

This map shows the distribution of the highest concentrations of slavery and product production in the World.  India (18) is number one, with the highest concentration of slavery.

Please join me in praying for India.
